Security Audit & Hardening

Know where your business is vulnerable — and fix it before attackers find it first.

$1,000 – $3,500

Do you know where your business is vulnerable?

Small businesses in the Triangle area are increasingly targeted by cyberattacks precisely because attackers know they typically have weaker defenses than large companies. Ransomware, phishing, credential theft, and exposed services are not just enterprise problems — a single breach can compromise client data, trigger legal liability, and shut down operations.

Most small businesses have no idea what's actually exposed on their network, whether their firewall is configured correctly, or whether their employees are using passwords that have already been compromised in data breaches.

A security audit isn't about paranoia — it's about knowing where you stand and fixing the things that matter most. You get a clear picture of your security posture and a prioritized plan to address the highest-risk issues first.

What's Included

  • Network vulnerability scanning (open ports, exposed services, outdated firmware)
  • Firewall and router configuration review
  • Workstation and server patch level assessment
  • Password policy and access control evaluation
  • Email security review (SPF, DKIM, DMARC configuration)
  • Wireless network security assessment
  • Physical security considerations (server/network closet access, cable management)
  • Review of admin accounts and privilege levels
  • Check for known compromised credentials across employee email addresses

What You Get

  • Security assessment report with risk ratings (Critical / High / Medium / Low)
  • Prioritized remediation checklist with estimated effort for each item
  • Executive summary written for non-technical stakeholders
  • If remediation is included: post-remediation verification report

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a penetration test?
A security audit is a broad assessment of your overall security posture — configurations, policies, and known vulnerabilities. A penetration test is an active attempt to exploit vulnerabilities. For most small businesses, an audit is the right starting point and identifies far more actionable issues.
Will the audit disrupt our operations?
No. Scanning and review are non-intrusive and can be done during or after business hours. If remediation involves configuration changes, I'll schedule those to minimize impact.
Do we need this if we already have antivirus software?
Antivirus is one layer of defense. An audit looks at the full picture — network configuration, access controls, email security, patch levels, and more. Most vulnerabilities I find in small businesses have nothing to do with malware.
How often should we get a security audit?
Annually is a good baseline, or whenever you make significant changes to your infrastructure (new office, new systems, staff turnover).
Will you help us fix what you find?
Yes, if you choose the audit plus remediation package. Otherwise, the report includes enough detail for your team or another provider to implement the fixes.
